This Champagne needs no introduction, a strong customer favourite, it is a ‘go to’ Champagne. Moët Impérial is the House’s iconic champagne. Created in 1869, it embodies Moët & Chandon’s unique style: bright fruitiness, a seductive palate and an elegant maturity. Created from over 100 different wines with up to 30% reserve wines. Typically an equal blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay.

Aroma:

Featuring intense and complex aromas, the notes are both vivid and diverse. The first nose consists of a surprising opening of almond croissants closely followed by acidic green apples and succulent honey. The experience feels well-rounded and balanced in the nostrils with a nectar finish. The following second nose is subtle with some white flowers as well as a citrusy and creamy lemon curd.

Flavour:

Opening with a burst of sharp cranberries, green apples are first detected in the nose as well as some spicy ginger. The heart that follows consists of yeasty brioche and citrus notes that I struggled to make out precisely but are still very pleasantly accorded. Finally, there are some unique notes of Virginia tobacco, which offer a light and aromatic aspect to the mouthfeel before a limestone finish.

Overall:

A well balanced Champagne, it remains a benchmark and is always enjoyable, even with its enormous production. In this bottling, ripe white fruit is cut with citrus, with an edge of toastiness that gives complexity.
